Fashion design is the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. It is highly influenced by social & cultural latitudes & has changed over time & place. They use multiple ways to design clothes & accessories.
History of fashion design
Fashion designing refers to the development of the purpose & intention behind garments, shoes & accessories including their designs & construction. Fashion first started when humans started wearing clothes. Earlier these clothes were made from plants, animal skins & bone. Before the mid-19th century the division between haute couture and ready-to-wear did not really exist. But the most basic pieces of female clothing were made-to-measure by dressmakers and seamstresses dealing directly with the client. Most often, clothing was patterned, sewn and tailored in the household. When storefronts appeared selling ready-to-wear clothing, this need was removed from the domestic workload.
The design of these clothes became increasing based on printed designs, especially from Paris, which were circulated around Europe, and anticipated in the provinces. In the early 20th century, fashion magazines and, with rotogravure, newspapers, began to include photographs and became even more influential. Throughout the world these magazines were greatly sought-after and had a profound effect on public taste. Talented illustrators – among them Paul Iribe, Georges Lepape, Erté, and George Barbier – drew attractive fashion plates for these publications, which covered the most recent developments in fashion and beauty. Perhaps the most famous of these magazines was La Gazette du Bon Ton which was founded in 1912 by Lucien Vogel and regularly published until 1925.
In olden times, fashion was considered as the possession for only High class people who could afford it for their day to day lifestyle. But with time and the thinking of people the view for fashion has changed. People have started understanding the importance of fashion & have also started inculcating it in their daily lives. Fashion is a word,, which is recognized by people all over the society. India the country known for its diversity in cultures & traditions has understood fashion & accepted it in its own way. Fashion designers put lots of efforts in fulfilling the wish of people from different backgrounds. The definition of fashion differs from one person to other. People who are interested in staying up to date with the latest fashion follow different fashion designers on social media & magazines. If you are a working woman or man the importance of fashion becomes high. It is very important to get dressed properly so that it leaves a good impression.
Importance of fashion designing
Designing is just not making clothes. It’s an art that involves calculations of execution. You can say it includes execution of ideas, fantasies, & art at large. A true designer will not just come up with concepts and sketch it on a piece of paper. It has to be very theoretical to the craft. Any well produced garment or a collection requires detailed attention to the theme of the collection, the mood, the aura, the inspiration, & the fabrics used behind it. The significance of fashion designing in our life is fundamental because it creates a lasting Impression from the way we dress up. It says things about your choices, your personality & your class at the same time. Fashion has an ability to change & shape lives through its personal connection to all of us.
